Description
- Pair of silver-plated metal procession lanterns, complete with wooden pole and base. A rare and evocative pair of 1700th-century Venetian-made processional lanterns. Atop the pole is a lamppost, which holds a candle for illumination. This historic religious lamp has six sides, without glass; each side has two scrolls and is entirely crafted and perforated. The upper portion is crowned by a perforated dome, with decorative elements typical of Baroque sacred art, which facilitate the escape of candle smoke. The metal surfaces are embellished with antique silver plating with a contemporary patina, lending charm and historical authenticity. Each lantern is mounted on a long turned wooden pole, terminating in a base for easy storage and display. The slender line and the balance between the wooden part and the metal body make the ensemble visually harmonious and striking.
