Description
Ancient Venetian marble holy water stoup / baptismal font
Description
Valuable marble holy water stoup of Venetian origin, dating back to the 19th century and probably intended for a minor ecclesiastical context or a private chapel.
Made of hand-sculpted marble, it features a hemispherical basin supported by an elegant turned shaft and a moulded circular base.
The basin is large and well-proportioned, with thick, slightly contoured edges. Slight signs of aging are visible, consistent with its original use and the presence of holy water.
The whole displays a sober but refined formal balance, typical of the liturgical production of the time.
