The concept of preserving the heritage and art of our country today is an established principle that we all share and respect. Once upon a time, the recovery and reuse of furniture was not at all a given. The need to survive and cope with daily difficulties prevailed and everything was sacrificed for the most pressing and survival needs. A piece of furniture that was no longer functional was reused and eventually used as firewood. And the same was done with clothes, and most of the artifacts. The restorer's job was precisely to know how to recognize and therefore restore valuable objects. Joseph Merlin at the end of the 800th century he was a restorer and knew how to recognize the value of an artifact, even if it was out of use. He was an expert cabinetmaker who knew how to recover the worked wooden parts, saving them from the fate of turning into fuel for some stove. Restoration requires great technical and artistic knowledge and at the time there were not many photographs and few books, but he saved and brought to us the most beautiful and most representative furniture of the various eras, to be able to use them as prototypes to then reconstruct and copy them. This is how art furniture was born: as a necessity of Restoration Recovery and Reuse of the furniture.
